During my first 6 years in the corporate as an Industrial Engineer, I became tired of Corporate America. I saw an ad for a Business Broker. I had no idea what this career consisted of but chose to investigate it.

Throughout the 6 years following retirement from the USAF, I taught in local Colleges & Universities as an adjunct faculty, at night. I wanted to pursue a PhD but was too busy raising a family & making a living.

I discovered that Business Brokerage was similar to teaching business. I knew the vocabulary of the discipline. I taught primarily Business & Management Theories plus 9 other business related courses. Reading that many new texts each year kept me informed as to the climate of the Business community.

There were fewer than 5 business brokers in Metro Kansas City. I joined 1 or 2 VR franchises. It was strictly a trial & error learning experience as there were no books to read on “How to become a business broker.” There were fewer than 5 Business Brokers in Metro Kansas City in the early 80s. Now there are over 50.

As many sales professionals do, I moved throughout the business brokerage community over the next 25 years. In addition, for the same reasons that all sales people change employers.

I always wanted to be on my own as with organizations, there are methodologies I wanted to institute but could not. One day, my son called & said that he had space in his law office. I immediately moved in & opened Moorhead Business Brokerage, LLC.
PS: After reading the definition of a Blog, I plan to keep these journal entries to 1 manuscript page or less. An average manuscript page in 12 point, Times Roman will contain about 23 lines of type per page and about 13 words per line, or 300 words per manuscript page.
